The World’s Leading Community for Interoperability Solutions

The OPC Foundation is the world’s leading community for industrial interoperability solutions based on OPC communication specifications that deliver universal connectivity. The mission of this community of vendors, end-users, integrators, and educators is to advance the development, adoption, and certification of OPC products.

  • International: OPC UA is Standard IEC62541 and +950 Members Worldwide
  • Security: Integrated “by Design” – Analyzed by the BSI
  • Scalable: Sensor to the IT cloud
  • Independent: Vendor, Operating System Industry and Language
  • Transport independent: TCP / HTTPS / UDP / AMQP / MQTT / File transfer and REST interface, and expandable

Education, Awareness, and Adoption of the OPC Specifications

OPC is the interoperability standard for secure, reliable, and platform-independent information exchange. It provides open connectivity by defining an interface between clients and servers, as between servers and other servers, for different fields of applications.

With over 950 OPC Foundation members and tens of thousands of OPC-compliant products, the OPC Foundation promotes education, awareness, and adoption of the OPC specifications through global compliance and collaboration programs. As the official source for the OPC Certification Program, the OPC Foundation helps ensure that OPC products plug-and-play in real-world applications. For more information, visit www.opcfoundation.org.

With the introduction of service-oriented architectures in manufacturing systems came new challenges in security and data modeling.

As a standard for data interoperability, the OPC Foundation facilitates the adoption of OPC technology through collaboration with other international standards organizations.

OPC is the interoperability standard for the secure and reliable exchange of data in the industrial automation space and in other industries.

OPC UA Compliance Test Tool (UACTT)

The CTT can be used to test OPC UA Client and Server products for compliance to the OPC UA specification.

Multiple versions of the CTT are maintained in order to ensure that products developed against earlier versions of the OPC UA specification can continue to be tested for compliance to those specification versions and associated profiles.

  • Client and Server modes of testing, including all test-scripts
  • Sample configurations for testing OPC Foundation Servers
  • Complete product documentation and test case documentation
  • Command-line interface for automated testing within your build system
  • Exclusive section reserved for User-defined test-scripts

Manufacturer and technology-independent communication interface for all AutoID technologies. OPC UA for the AutoID industry for 1D / 2D code, HF RFID, UHF RFID and Real Time Location Systems. The OPC UA Companion Specification for AutoID Devices has existed since 2016 and is supported by many well-known manufacturers.

A successful cooperation between the OPC Foundation and the AIM Association. Living interoperability – of course with all the advantages of OPC UA such as the included cyber security functionalities.

OPC UA has been designed for scalability and supports a wide range of application domains, ranging from field level (e.g. devices for measurement or identification, PLCs), to enterprise management support.

New Information Models can be created based on the OPC UA Data Model and eventually derived from OPC UA Base Information Models.

Companion specifications of such Information Models are often called “Industry standard models” because they typically address a dedicated industry problem. The synergy of the OPC UA infrastructure to exchange such industry information models enables interoperability at the semantic level.
