With the new NTAG 223 DNA and NTAG 224 DNA line, NXP establishes a new level of connectivity – enabling an ‘Internet of Everything’ where businesses and their consumers can use NFC technology in fully passive mode to authenticate, protect, sense, and monitor in powerful new ways.

The NTAG 22x DNA line of tag ICs is targeted at customers who need high-volume tagging solutions at an affordable cost, without sacrificing advanced security and functionality.

The NTAG 22x DNA line is powered by SUN (Secure Unique NFC) message authentication with AES cryptography and status awareness using conductance or capacitance. The product’s application space is virtually unlimited, since it can be used as an authentication tag, an anti-tampering tag, or a simple battery-free sensing tag, expanding the reach of smart, trusted IoT objects.

NTAG 424 DNA sets a new standard in secure NFC and IoT applications. The chip platform offers state-of-the-art features for security and privacy protection, on attack-resistant certified silicon.

The NTAG 424 DNA is architected to provide AES-128 cryptographic operation, the SUN authentication mechanism upon each read-out by an NFC enabled mobile device, as well as sensitive data protection with crypto-secure access permissions. This enables advanced product and content protection, plus secured and unique user experiences served in real-time.

The NTAG 424 DNA TagTamper tags go further, as they detect product opening and can support status-aware messaging, once the tag’s seal or label has been broken and tapped with an NFC phone.

Excellent read performance allows for an increased level of automation along the supply chain. Due to NFC phone readability, ICODE DNA enables direct one-to-one consumer engagement and subsequently customized marketing campaigns.

The secure UCODE DNA RAIN RFID (UHF) tag IC supports use cases that require long read ranges of up to 15 meters. The IC combines advanced contactless performance with cryptographic security and enables a variety of Smart City applications, such as asset tagging, automatic vehicle identification, access control, and supply chain management.

The security of the chip is based on a 128-bit AES key which is stored in the IC hardware and performs cryptographic authentication checks. The UCODE DNA IC is designed in compliance with standards for worldwide interoperability, namely the GS1™ UHF RFID Gen2 v2.0 (Annex N, Tag Alteration (Authenticate)), and ISO/IEC 29167-10 for proof of origin based on AES (Advanced Encryption Standard)
