Identiv Expands ID-Tiny HF/NFC Portfolio for Compact Products
Identiv has expanded its ID-Tiny family with eight ultra-miniaturized HF/NFC tags and inlays for compact and design-sensitive products. The portfolio targets authentication, tracking, digital product identity and smartphone interaction where conventional RFID formats require too much space.
HF/NFC Integration in Minimal Form Factors
The ID-Tiny portfolio is designed for products, components and packaging with very limited installation space. Potential applications include jewelry, eyewear, surgical instruments, pharmaceutical vials, wireless earbuds and caps for personal care products.
With formats no larger than a grain of rice and label sizes smaller than a pencil eraser, the tags are intended for objects that are too small, irregularly shaped or visually sensitive for conventional RFID designs. HF/NFC functionality can therefore be integrated without fundamentally changing the appearance, handling or function of the product.
“ID-Tiny is about making digital identity possible in places where it simply wasn't practical before,” said Dr. Manfred Mueller, CSO of Identiv. “When you can bring secure, smartphone-readable HF/NFC functionality into form factors no larger than a grain of rice, you unlock entirely new use cases, from verifying a luxury ring's authenticity to tracking the use of a surgical instrument or connecting a patient to dosage instructions from a vial, without compromising performance. That is the power of miniaturization: it makes the smallest physical objects part of the digital world.”
Eight Tags Based on ISO 15693
The expanded family comprises eight tags and inlays in multiple form factors. It supports ISO 15693 and is compatible with IC technologies including NXP ICODE 3 and STMicroelectronics ST25TV.
The different formats give product developers and system integrators greater flexibility when adapting the tag design to specific surfaces, materials and installation conditions. Ultra-miniaturized RFID designs still require careful RF testing because limited antenna dimensions and surrounding materials can influence read performance.
Identiv supports projects with encoding and personalization, application testing, rapid prototyping and scalable manufacturing. These services address the RF, integration and production challenges associated with adding HF/NFC functionality to very small products.

The ID-Tiny-A798-I3 provides secure, smartphone-readable NFC identification for miniature products.
Authentication, Tracking and Digital Services
For luxury goods and fashion, ID-Tiny can provide discreet digital identities for authenticity checks, Digital Product Passports, warranty registration, ownership verification, insurance activation and protection against counterfeiting or gray market diversion.
Healthcare applications include surgical instrument tracking, sterilization cycle monitoring, medical consumable authentication and pharmaceutical vial identification. NFC interactions can also connect patients with digital dosage or usage information.
In consumer electronics and smart home products, the tags can support product pairing, accessory verification, replacement-part authentication and lifecycle services.
Food, beverage, cosmetics and personal care brands can use the technology for product verification, anti-refill functions, digital instructions, loyalty services and post-purchase communication.
Relevance for RFID Solution Providers
For system integrators, the portfolio extends HF/NFC deployment into product categories where available space has previously been a major constraint. Successful implementation depends on matching the tag geometry, IC, material environment, read method and manufacturing process to the individual application.
For manufacturers and brand owners, compact digital identities can support faster authentication, improved recall management, reduced fraud and warranty costs, and greater visibility across the product lifecycle.
The expanded ID-Tiny product family is available now.
