Identiv has completed the sale of its IoT business and legacy Identiv brand to Trackonomy. The former Identiv, Inc. is now INVE Technologies, Inc. and is shifting toward Physical AI and compliance SaaS, while retaining the Nasdaq ticker INVE.

Identiv Brand and IoT Business Now Part of Trackonomy

The transaction announced in June 2026 has closed. Trackonomy Systems has acquired the legacy Identiv brand name and Identiv’s IoT business assets, completing one of the more significant structural changes in the RFID and Bluetooth Low Energy market this year.

Identiv to Sell IoT Operating Assets to Trackonomy

Identiv plans to sell its IoT operating assets, German R&D centre and Thai subsidiary to Trackonomy and shift toward compliance SaaS acquisitions.

The distinction is important: the listed company itself was not renamed by Trackonomy. Following the asset sale, Identiv, Inc. changed its corporate name to INVE Technologies, Inc. Its shares continue to trade on Nasdaq under the existing ticker INVE.

The transaction therefore creates two clearly different paths: the Identiv brand and IoT activities move to Trackonomy, while the former Identiv corporate entity continues as INVE Technologies with a new business strategy.

What Trackonomy Acquired

When the agreement was announced on June 24, Identiv described the transaction as the sale of its specialty IoT business, including substantially all operating assets and the shares of its Thai subsidiary. Earlier transaction materials also referenced Identiv’s German R&D operation as part of the IoT assets moving to Trackonomy.

That business had been focused on RFID- and Bluetooth Low Energy-enabled IoT solutions, including specialized RFID transponders and BLE technology used in applications ranging from healthcare and pharmaceuticals to logistics, consumer products and connected physical goods.

For the Wireless IoT market, the key change is therefore not simply a corporate rename: the operating IoT technology business associated with the Identiv name is now under Trackonomy.

Trackonomy Connects RFID and BLE with Physical AI

Trackonomy describes itself as a specialist in battery-powered smart labels and Physical AI, connecting physical objects with real-time data and software intelligence. When the transaction was announced, the companies positioned the combination around connected products, intelligent supply chains and broader Physical AI applications.

The transaction gives Trackonomy access to Identiv’s RFID and BLE expertise while expanding the technology base behind its Physical AI platform.

Identiv’s June communications also highlighted the potential combination of Trackonomy’s platform with Identiv’s specialized BLE and RFID portfolio, including high-volume connected-label applications.

INVE Technologies Takes a Different Direction

The former Identiv corporate entity is now INVE Technologies, Inc. Rather than continuing primarily as an RFID and BLE hardware provider, the company says its go-forward strategy will focus on building a Physical AI SaaS business.

The plan is to acquire complementary compliance SaaS companies and combine their software capabilities with physical-world data generated through an expected strategic partnership with Trackonomy.

INVE Technologies received $50 million in Trackonomy preferred equity, subject to post-closing adjustment. Previously disclosed transaction terms specified that Identiv would also contribute $25 million in cash as part of the transaction.

The two companies are still working toward a definitive strategic partnership covering software opportunities built around Trackonomy’s Physical AI platform.

"Bringing this transformational transaction to a successful close marks an important strategic milestone for our company," said James Ousley, Chairman of the Board. "By transitioning to INVE Technologies, securing Trackonomy preferred equity, and pivoting our business strategy around physical AI, we believe we are creating a clear, scalable growth path going forward. We remain disciplined in our capital allocation strategy and are committed to returning capital and driving long-term value for our stockholders."

New Leadership for INVE Technologies

The strategic change is accompanied by a management transition.

James Greenwell will become Interim CEO of INVE Technologies on September 21, 2026. Greenwell brings more than 30 years of experience spanning RFID, IoT, SaaS commercialization, regulated supply chains and corporate transformation.

Current CEO Kirsten Newquist will step down as CEO on September 21, remain an employee through the end of September and resign from the board effective September 30.

A New Structure for Identiv, Trackonomy and INVE

For customers and partners in the RFID and Wireless IoT ecosystem, the closing marks a clear dividing line.

Identiv’s IoT assets and the Identiv brand are now with Trackonomy. INVE Technologies remains the Nasdaq-listed company and is repositioning itself around Physical AI and compliance SaaS.

Trackonomy, meanwhile, gains an established RFID and BLE technology business that can be combined with its existing smart-label and Physical AI capabilities. The next important step will be how the acquired Identiv portfolio is integrated into Trackonomy and how the planned strategic relationship between Trackonomy and INVE Technologies develops.

The transaction was officially confirmed by INVE Technologies on September 15, 2026, including the completion of the IoT asset sale, the corporate rename and the company’s new Physical AI SaaS strategy: https://www.invetechnologies.com/news/press-releases/detail/462/identiv-completes-sale-of-iot-assets-and-renames-company-inve-technologies-inc
