UID Acquires AEG ID to Expand Industrial RFID Solutions in Europe and North America
The acquisition combines UID’s application expertise with AEG ID’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities across industrial automation, healthcare, animal identification, logistics, and asset tracking.
KENOSHA, Wisconsin, and ULM, Germany, June 12, 2026 — Unified Information Devices, Inc. (UID), a provider of RFID-enabled identification, monitoring, and traceability solutions, has completed the acquisition of AEG Identifikationssysteme GmbH (AEG ID). The transaction includes AEG ID’s headquarters in Ulm, Germany, and its manufacturing operations in the Czech Republic.
The acquisition expands UID’s manufacturing and engineering capabilities and establishes a stronger platform for delivering RFID technologies to customers in Europe and North America.
Demand for reliable identification, automation, traceability, and real-time operational data continues to grow across manufacturing, healthcare, semiconductor production, logistics, research, and animal health. By combining their respective capabilities, UID and AEG ID aim to address these requirements with integrated RFID, sensing, and asset-intelligence solutions.
“North America is one of the world’s largest markets for industrial automation, traceability, and RFID-enabled asset intelligence,” said Craig Jordan, CEO of UID. “AEG ID has established a strong reputation for industrial RFID solutions in Europe. Together, we can make these capabilities more widely available in North America while helping customers improve automation, traceability, and access to reliable operational data.”
Expanded RFID Engineering and Manufacturing Capabilities
AEG ID develops RFID technologies for industrial automation, access control, logistics, animal identification, and intelligent tracking applications. Its capabilities span much of the RFID value chain, including chip and transponder design, readers, antennas, and industrial-grade identification systems.
The company also participates in the ISO technical working group for animal identification, contributing its expertise to the development of international identification standards.
AEG ID’s manufacturing operations can produce tens of millions of transponders annually. These products support applications that require secure, reliable, and accurate identification under demanding operating conditions.
The company’s technologies are used across Europe in Industry 4.0 production environments, access-control systems, livestock and companion-animal identification, logistics processes, and container-tracking applications.
Reliable Asset Data for Automated Operations
The combined organization brings together UID’s application and monitoring expertise with AEG ID’s engineering, production, and industrial RFID capabilities.
This broader technology base will support customers that depend on accurate asset-level information in industrial, scientific, veterinary, and research environments. It will be particularly relevant for applications in which the secure identification and validation of individual assets are essential.
“As organizations increasingly use automation and AI-supported decision-making, the quality and integrity of the underlying data become more important,” said Matt Ruiter, Chief Science Officer of UID. “Securely identifying, tracking, and validating assets provides a more dependable data foundation for operational processes, scientific research, and business decisions.”
Continued Development of RFID and Sensing Technologies
UID will continue developing technologies such as its temperature-sensing microchips and AnyCage home-cage monitoring system. These solutions enable researchers to monitor animal health, activity, and welfare more consistently and with less manual intervention.
The technologies support scientific and regulatory efforts to improve data quality and animal welfare in research. They also complement the growing adoption of New Approach Methodologies encouraged by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Through the acquisition, UID and AEG ID will jointly advance RFID, sensing, and asset-intelligence technologies for increasingly connected and automated environments.
The combined capabilities will help customers improve asset visibility, data accuracy, process automation, traceability, and operational performance across multiple industries.
