Magenta Security Mobile.ID Turns Smartphones into Universal Business Keys
Telekom launches Magenta Security Mobile.ID – market launch for business customers from summer 2026.
Deutsche Telekom and Samsung are jointly introducing a new mobile security platform: Magenta Security Mobile.ID. The solution turns smartphones into universal digital keys – for access, identification, encryption, and digital signatures. The exclusive launch will take place with Samsung devices, with the market launch for business customers planned for summer 2026 in Europe.
With Mobile.ID, digital identities can be used securely via smartphone in a wide variety of applications. Sensitive information such as keys, certificates, or even digital ID cards are stored directly on the Secure Element integrated into the device. This specially protected chip is shielded from external access and enables maximum security while remaining user-friendly.
"With Magenta Security Mobile.ID, we are living up to the concept of digital trust even more in Europe," says Telekom's head of security, Thomas Tschersich. "It is 100 percent data-sovereign and plays to its strengths via Bluetooth or short-range communication with virtually no limits."
Smartphone instead of key card
The internal test phase has already begun: Telekom employees are using Mobile.ID in their everyday work wherever physical cards or keys were previously required.
Opening the barrier to the underground car park.
Unlocking the door to the office complex.
Logging in to the laptop.
Encrypting emails.
Verifying calls as authentic.
A green check mark indicates that an incoming call has not been tampered with. All these applications are based on the Secure Element integrated into the smartphone. Physical ID cards, smart cards, and keys are replaced, reducing complexity, costs, and security risks.
Flexible via Bluetooth and NFC
Magenta Security Mobile.ID uses both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Near Field Communication (NFC). This makes the solution flexible and easy to integrate into a wide variety of infrastructures – from access systems to digital signature platforms.
The platform is deliberately designed so that companies only implement the functions they actually need. It is equally suitable for small, medium-sized, and large companies.
Perspective: Protection against deepfakes and more
Telekom sees further potential in the long term: in the future, content such as photos or videos could be marked with a kind of digital watermark if they were created with a suitably secured smartphone. This would make manipulation or deepfake abuse much more difficult.
"Progress must make us safer as a society, be based on trust, and create real added value. That's what our networks, products, and services stand for – today and in the future," says Abdu Mudesir, Member of the Board of Management for Product & Technology at Deutsche Telekom.
Market launch in the DACH region
The official market launch for business customers is planned for later this year in Europe, initially focusing on the DACH region. Other technological ecosystems are to follow in the future, but the launch will be exclusively with Samsung as the first partner.
With Magenta Security Mobile.ID, Telekom is positioning itself in the growing market for digital identity and security solutions – and making the smartphone the central authority of trust in the corporate environment.
