Quectel Expands IoT Portfolio with Zigbee & BLE Module for Smart Environments

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global leader in IoT solutions, has announced the launch of its latest high-performance MCU Zigbee and BLE module — the KCMA32S. Designed to meet the increasing demands of smart lighting, building automation, and home network applications, the KCMA32S delivers advanced connectivity, robust security, and a compact form factor ideal for scalable IoT development.
Powered by Silicon Labs’ ultra-low-power EFR32MG21 wireless SoC, the module supports both Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.3, allowing for multi-protocol coexistence and enhanced communication performance. At its core, the KCMA32S integrates an ARM Cortex-M33 processor operating at up to 80 MHz, offering strong processing capabilities for demanding applications.
Developers can choose from two flexible memory configurations — 64 KB RAM with 768 KB flash or 96 KB SRAM with 1024 KB flash — giving them the freedom to build robust and versatile solutions tailored to project requirements.
“With the launch of the KCMA32S, we’re expanding the possibilities for compact, high-performance IoT solutions,” said Delbert Sun, Vice General Manager, Product Division at Quectel Wireless Solutions. “This module combines multi-protocol connectivity, advanced security, and a compact form factor—empowering developers to innovate across industries like smart lighting, building automation, and consumer electronics.”
Mesh Networking and Security
One of the standout features of the KCMA32S is its support for Zigbee/BLE mesh networking, enabling many-to-many communication and improved network scalability. This makes it particularly suitable for applications such as smart lighting systems, where multiple nodes must communicate across a network reliably.
The module also offers Secure Vault capabilities, delivering enhanced IoT security that meets the growing need for secure device deployment in both commercial and residential environments.
Compact Design and High Flexibility
Measuring just 20.0 mm × 12.0 mm × 2.2 mm, the KCMA32S is built in an LCC + LGA form factor, optimizing both size and cost for end-product designs. The module supports up to 20 GPIOs, which can be configured for I2C, UART, SPI, and I2S through Quectel’s QuecOpen SDK, ensuring adaptability to a wide range of hardware environments.
Additionally, the KCMA32S boasts:
Superior RF sensitivity of -104 dBm
Transmit power up to +20 dBm
Operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C
Antenna options, including PCB antenna, RF coaxial connector, or pin antenna
