Pozyx & Partners Launch NG-UWB to Advance Next-Gen Ultra-Wideband in Flanders
Ghent, Belgium — October 30, 2025 — Pozyx, together with leading industrial and academic partners, has launched NG-UWB, a three-year research program funded by VLAIO and imec to advance next-generation ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning and sensing.
The consortium brings together Pozyx, Televic Healthcare, Televic Rail, Dekimo, Qorvo, Inc., Connect Group N.V., and imec research groups from IDLab (UGent – UAntwerpen – imec) and UGent-imec-WAVES, uniting expertise in UWB, antenna design, signal processing, and machine learning.
What NG-UWB will deliver
Single-anchor, centimeter-level positioning: Multi-antenna UWB systems targeting real-time localization with fewer infrastructure points and simpler installs.
Tagless UWB radar sensing: Presence and activity monitoring without a wearable tag—opening new options in healthcare, smart buildings, and safety.
AI-driven, energy-efficient UWB networks: Adaptive networks that optimize performance and power based on environmental conditions.
The work program aligns with the upcoming IEEE 802.15.4ab UWB standard, expected to bring higher throughput, improved robustness, and new capabilities for both data communication and precise positioning.
Over the next three years, NG-UWB aims to simplify deployments, improve accuracy and reliability, and unlock new use cases across industry, healthcare, and transportation—reinforcing Flanders as a hub for advanced wireless positioning and sensing.
