HID Appoints Catalin Stefu as European Sales Director for Industrial Smart Components
Former EM Microelectronic executive brings more than 25 years of experience in RFID, semiconductors, IoT and international sales leadership.
October 2026 – HID has appointed Catalin Stefu as Sales Director Europe for its Industrial Smart Components (ISC) business unit, which specializes in passive RFID tags, labels and transponders for industrial identification applications. Stefu brings more than 25 years of international experience in sales, business development and leadership across the semiconductor, RFID, IoT, software and smart city industries.
Industrial Smart Components is part of HID's Identification Technologies (IDT) business area. Its portfolio includes standard and customized RFID tags and transponders for industry and logistics, healthcare, animal identification and fueling automation. The business unit serves customers requiring reliable identification and traceability solutions, including manufacturers, OEMs and system integrators.
Extensive Experience in RFID and Semiconductor Markets
Before joining HID, Stefu served as Senior Sales Manager & Global Account Director at EM Microelectronic (Swatch Group), where he held commercial responsibility for global strategic accounts.
His responsibilities included revenue growth, profitability, executive-level customer relationships and complex commercial negotiations. He also coordinated international teams across sales, product management, operations, supply chain, quality and finance.
Throughout his career, Stefu has developed business opportunities and customer partnerships in highly competitive technology markets, combining semiconductor expertise with international sales and account management.
Strengthening European RFID Sales
In his new position, Stefu will oversee European sales activities for HID's Industrial Smart Components business unit and report directly to Guido Kuhrmann.
His appointment brings additional industry experience to HID's European RFID business, particularly in the development of strategic customer relationships and international sales operations.
Kuhrmann expressed confidence that Stefu's experience, leadership and customer-focused approach will contribute to HID's continued success and growth in Europe.
