HID Launches Sewio Zevon: Next-Gen 8 GHz UWB RTLS for Industry
HID introduces Sewio Zevon, a next-generation real-time location system designed to address three major challenges in industrial RTLS: reliability, interoperability and deployment costs. Combining 8 GHz UWB technology, open standards and simplified infrastructure, Zevon delivers reliable asset tracking while reducing cabling requirements by up to 80%.
Three RTLS Challenges. One Solution.
Manufacturers are under increasing pressure to improve operational efficiency, automate material flows and prepare their facilities for AI-driven processes. Reliable real-time location data is becoming essential, but conventional RTLS installations often force companies to compromise between positioning reliability, interoperability and infrastructure costs.
HID Sewio Zevon eliminates the need for these compromises. The new ultra-wideband (UWB) RTLS platform combines three key innovations:
interference-resistant positioning in the 8 GHz band,
interoperability through IEEE 802.15.4z and
a simplified infrastructure that significantly reduces cabling and installation effort.
Designed for production facilities, warehouses and demanding industrial environments, Zevon provides a scalable foundation for real-time asset tracking and data-driven process optimization.
Reliable Positioning with 8 GHz UWB
Industrial wireless environments are becoming increasingly crowded. Conventional UWB systems often operate around 6 GHz, where growing wireless activity can increase the risk of interference.
Zevon moves UWB positioning to the less congested 8 GHz band, providing greater protection against interference and supporting stable, accurate and energy-efficient location tracking.
For manufacturers, this means reliable location data even in complex production environments with numerous moving assets, wireless devices and automated processes.
The 8 GHz architecture is designed to support consistent positioning performance and long-term reliability as industrial wireless requirements continue to evolve.
Open Interoperability with IEEE 802.15.4z
Zevon introduces greater flexibility through standardized UWB technology. Its IEEE 802.15.4z-compliant chips enable the infrastructure to work with compatible RTLS tags from different manufacturers.
This open approach reduces dependence on proprietary hardware and gives system integrators greater freedom when designing and expanding industrial tracking solutions.
HID is also extending its commitment to standardization across the broader RTLS platform, helping customers reduce integration risks and protect their infrastructure investments.
Up to 80% Less Cabling with Daisy-Chain Connectivity
Deploying RTLS infrastructure across large industrial facilities often requires extensive cabling, multiple network ports and considerable installation effort.
Zevon simplifies installation with daisy-chain connectivity. Instead of running a separate cable from the network switch to each UWB anchor, multiple anchors are connected in sequence using a single cable route. This significantly reduces the amount of cabling, the number of network switch ports required and the installation effort, particularly in large production halls and warehouses.
Combined with optimized anchor placement, the new architecture reduces cabling requirements by 50 to 80%, simplifies installation and makes it easier to expand RTLS coverage as operational needs grow.
Fewer cables, fewer network ports and a more efficient infrastructure design also help reduce deployment and maintenance costs.
Two Anchor Types for Optimized Industrial Coverage
Zevon combines two types of fixed UWB receivers, known as anchors, to locate tagged assets throughout a facility. Omni anchors provide 360° coverage, while Direct anchors focus on specific areas such as aisles and corridors.
Zevon Omni Anchor
Provides 360-degree omnidirectional coverage for large production halls, warehouses and open assembly areas.
Zevon Direct Anchor
Delivers a focused 120-degree field of view for aisles, corridors, high-ceiling areas and other spaces requiring targeted coverage.
Both anchors feature rugged IP65-rated enclosures and operate in temperatures ranging from −30°C to +60°C.
The infrastructure is complemented by the Zevon Asset Tag, featuring 8 GHz UWB technology, IEEE 802.15.4z compliance, integrated motion detection, a customizable button and LED, and a battery designed for multi-year operation.
From Real-Time Tracking to AI-Driven Operations
Zevon integrates with HID Sewio's RTLS Studio software, transforming location data into actionable operational intelligence.
Manufacturers can visualize asset locations, monitor material movements, measure lead times and identify bottlenecks in production and logistics.
Integration with ERP, MES and other enterprise systems makes location data available for broader operational analysis and process automation.
Reliable location and movement data also provides a foundation for AI-driven applications, including predictive analytics, intelligent material flow management and automated decision-making.
“We created Zevon to address the three biggest challenges facing industrial RTLS users: reliability, infrastructure costs and vendor lock-in. By combining resilient 8 GHz UWB technology, open standards and simplified deployment, we are giving manufacturers a scalable foundation for real-time visibility, process optimization and AI-driven decision-making,” says Lubomir Mraz, Co-Founder of HID’s Sewio and UWB Evangelist.
