IoT Starts Here: Wireless IoT tomorrow 2025
The team behind the event sits just down the hall from us here at Think WIOT. So we took a closer look—critically and curiously. Is WIoT25 worth the calendar slot, travel, and time away from your desk?
The event originally launched in 2011 as the RFID Conference—a small, Hamburg-based gathering for around 100 early adopters. At the time, RFID was still new and full of potential. But as IoT expanded and new technologies emerged, the event evolved.
In 2018, it was rebranded to Wireless IoT tomorrow (WIoT tomorrow) to reflect a more complete and integrated approach. Because real-world IoT deployments rarely rely on just one technology.
Today, WIoT25 brings together top-tier hardware suppliers, component makers, software providers, integrators, and end users from a wide range of verticals. It’s not about a single protocol or buzzword. It’s about what works—and what’s next.
From the Outside Looking In: An Event for Practitioners
With 100+ exhibitors and a two-day format, WIoT25 is smaller than mega expos—but it makes that size work. The layout is manageable. The focus is technical. And it’s intentionally designed for decision-makers, engineers, and developers.
There’s no stage show or influencer circuit here. It’s about components, modules, systems, and integration-ready solutions. Technologies at the forefront:
- HF RFID, UHF RFID/RAIN, NFC, UWB, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, and hybrid systems
- LPWAN and Wi-Fi HaLow
- Wireless sensors, microcontrollers, embedded systems
- Wireless charging, eco-friendly battery technologies & energy harvesting
- OPC UA, AI at the edge & intelligent middleware
- RTLS, automation, smart sensing and asset tracking
A great introduction to the world of wireless communication can be found in the fundamentals article on Think WIoT: “Wireless Communication: The Foundation of Wireless IoT.” It explains how electromagnetic waves are used to transmit information wirelessly – over distances ranging from just a few centimeters to thousands of kilometers.

What this article explains in theory, WIoT25 demonstrates in practice: Which technologies are used in real-world projects How do wireless standards differ in range, energy efficiency, and application scope? Which solutions are market-ready – and which are still in development?
WIoT25 offers the chance to find out – directly in conversation with developers, providers, and users.
Hardware, Products & Components Take Center Stage
What sets WIoT25 apart is the focus on tangible, physical tech. In many IoT events, hardware is often an afterthought. But here, it’s front and center:
- Pre-series modules and production-ready systems
- Energy autonomy and battery innovations
- Tags, inlays, wireless sensors, readers, antennas, ICs, sender, receiver and transceiver
- Real products to see, touch, and evaluate
For anyone selecting or benchmarking components, this is a rare chance to speak directly with developers and manufacturers—no layers of abstraction.
What to Expect at the Conference & Expo
The Exhibition is the heart of the event. Over 100 companies from across the wireless IoT ecosystem present technologies and solutions—from RFID, BLE, and UWB, to LPWAN, embedded systems, sensors, and wireless power. Whether you're looking for hardware components, complete platforms, or integration partners—you’ll find them here.
Running in parallel is the Conference, curated by the Think WIOT editorial team. The focus here is clear: real use cases, practical insights, and what's already working in the field. There’s no filler—just speakers who bring substance and experience.
AIM-D, the leading industry association for automatic identification and mobile data capture, actively supports the conference by contributing its network, providing connections to high-quality speakers, and helping shape the agenda.
Thanks to this collaboration, the program features end-user presentations, integration case studies, and technical deep dives—all with a cross-industry perspective. The speaker lineup includes innovators from industry, logistics, healthcare, mobility, and beyond. Presentations are grouped into clear thematic tracks:
- Industry 5.0: AI, Robotics & IoT in Europe
- Smart City: Intelligent Infrastructure
- Smart Hospital: IoT, AI & Data Analytics
- The Pulse of Wireless IoT
- Next-Level Supply Chains
- Digital Product Passport Meets Wireless IoT
This is not a stage for promotional pitches—it’s a platform for practical knowledge sharing, backed by real results. And with all talks in English, the conference invites a truly international audience.
Interview: A Word from the Organizer
We spoke with Niklas Van Bocxlaer, event manager of WIoT25, for an honest look at how the event has changed—and what 2025 holds.
Why is WIoT25 relevant now?
Niklas Van Bocxlaer: After 20 years of doing this, we’ve seen what works—and what doesn’t. The goal today is simple: a focused exhibition with top global players, SpeedLabs to explore their work live, and a conference with real end-user insights. That’s what makes it stand out. We didn’t get here by chance—this is the result of learning from mistakes and refining every year.
Why change the conference setup?
We tried integrating it into the exhibition hall in 2023/24. Good content, good speakers—but it didn’t feel like a real conference. So now it’s a clean break. Full focus. End-user lectures. No product pitches. It’s a different level and I think visitors will feel that.
How do you feel about 2025?
It’s not been an easy year for Europe. But the need for IoT solutions—efficient, scalable, and future-proof—is stronger than ever. I’m excited. The exhibitor list looks fantastic, and we’re proud that so many key players are joining us again.
Tips for first-time visitors?
Plan ahead. Pick your conference talks, SpeedLabs, and must-visit booths. People get pulled into spontaneous discussions and lose track. The show is compact—but intense. Preparation helps you make the most of it.
Should you attend?
WIoT25 isn’t trying to be everything. It’s not about market share or headlines. It’s about tech that works—and the people who build and use it.
If your IoT roadmap includes RFID, BLE, UWB, wireless sensors, embedded systems, or AI at the edge, this is one of the few places where you can explore everything side by side.

WIoT tomorrow 2025 takes place on October 22–23 in Wiesbaden, Germany. Just 30 minutes from Frankfurt Airport and walking distance from the Wiesbaden main station.
