Wireless temperature logging for autoclave environments

The TELID®310.advance from microsensys is a semi-passive RFID temperature data logger designed for monitoring thermal processes in demanding environments such as steam sterilization, laboratory workflows, and industrial validation processes. The device combines contactless RFID communication with integrated temperature sensing to record and store temperature curves during sterilization or other thermal cycles.

Operating in the HF RFID band at 13.56 MHz and compliant with ISO 14443B, the logger communicates wirelessly via closed coupling with compatible microsensys readers. The contactless interface enables data access without direct electrical connections, which simplifies handling in wet, high-temperature, or hygienically sensitive environments.

Inside the device, a semiconductor temperature sensor measures temperatures across a range of –30 °C to +140 °C, enabling monitoring of both cryogenic processes and steam sterilization cycles. Measurement data is stored in an internal EEPROM memory with capacity for up to 8,000 samples, allowing detailed documentation of temperature profiles during validation or maintenance procedures.

The sensor logger is housed in a hermetically sealed stainless steel and glass enclosure with IP67 protection, allowing reliable operation in humid, wet, and pressurized environments. Its compact cylindrical design, with a diameter of 27 mm and thickness of 13 mm, allows installation on metal or non-metal surfaces without special mounting requirements.

A built-in real-time clock and programmable sampling intervals between 1 second and 59 minutes support flexible measurement configurations. The logger operates in sleep and active logging modes, enabling users to program measurement parameters and record temperature curves during defined sterilization cycles.

Power is supplied by an integrated 400 mAh lithium primary cell with a typical service life of up to three years, depending on usage conditions. Recorded data can be retrieved via compatible microsensys readers for desktop, industrial, or mobile applications and evaluated using dedicated software.

Within the TELID® sensor platform, additional variants are available, including versions with the temperature sensor integrated in the housing and models with external pin probes designed for faster thermal response when measuring temperature curves in steam sterilizers.
