HarvesTag: A Groundbreaking New UHF RFID Phone Case Powered by NFC Energy Harvesting
Phone case with built-in UHF RFID reader | Available from Q2 2026
HarvesTag introduces a new way to use UHF RFID on the go: an industry-first phone case with a built-in, battery-free UHF RFID reader, powered entirely by NFC energy harvesting. No charging, no external reader, just attach the case to a compatible smartphone and start reading tags in seconds.
HarvesTag was first unveiled at WIoT tomorrow 2025 in October in Wiesbaden, Germany, showcasing how UHF RFID can be brought directly to smartphones in a compact, everyday form factor.
By integrating the reader and an internal circularly polarized antenna directly into the case, HarvesTag enables fast, close-range RFID interactions. Users can read up to 10 tags per second, with a read range of up to 25 cm (depending on tag and environment), making instant identification and verification possible wherever work happens.
HarvesTag supports EPC C1 G2 / ISO 18000-6C, including NXP UCODE DNA and custom tag commands, enabling both standard use cases and advanced authentication scenarios. Designed to make RFID accessible beyond large enterprises, HarvesTag helps small and medium-sized businesses adopt UHF RFID more easily, supporting broader, everyday use of RFID technology.
