As global adoption of RAIN RFID continues to grow, strong industry leadership remains essential to support standards alignment, regulatory engagement, and collaboration across the ecosystem. Times-7 is proud to support Jos Kunnen in his candidacy for the RAIN Alliance Board of Directors.

The RAIN Alliance plays a central role in advancing the industry by providing a unified voice for RAIN RFID, supporting global standards development, and engaging with regulators to help create a stable environment for long-term growth.

By bringing together technology providers, integrators, and end users, the Alliance helps accelerate awareness, interoperability, and adoption across multiple sectors.

Supporting the next phase of RAIN RFID growth

Jos Kunnen currently serves as Chair of the RAIN Alliance Board and has played an active role in guiding the organization during a period of significant development and industry expansion. During his tenure, he has supported the refinement of the Alliance’s strategic direction, strengthened governance maturity, and worked closely with Board members and executive leadership to ensure effective oversight and alignment.

His background in technology, governance, and international business has contributed to the continued progress of the Alliance at a pivotal moment for the global RAIN ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Jos sees the next phase of the RAIN Alliance as being shaped by greater interoperability, wider accessibility, and stronger standards support across the market.

“I believe the next phase for the RAIN Alliance will focus on developing the standards that make RAIN more interoperable, ubiquitous and easier to use,” said Jos Kunnen. “Key initiatives to support these goals range from global harmonisation of RF spectrum and access for RAIN, standardising RAIN capability in smartphones, continued Digital Product Passport support and standards, and e-waste compliance.”

There are currently too many RAIN opportunities and challenges for any one company to address. I believe the RAIN Alliance is the best platform to drive progress and allow the whole industry to benefit.

As RAIN continues to expand across industries and applications, collaborative leadership at Alliance level remains critical to ensuring sustainable and scalable growth.

Voting for the 2026 to 2027 RAIN Alliance Board of Directors is now open and closes on 9 March 2026. All eligible RAIN Alliance members are encouraged to participate in the election process and support the continued advancement of the global RAIN community.

Times-7 wishes all candidates every success and thanks them for their commitment to supporting the future of the RAIN RFID ecosystem.
