CHAINWAY UR1A – UHF | RAIN - RFID Long Range Reader for Industrial Identification Processes

UHF | RAIN - RFID has become a key technology for automated identification in industry, logistics and retail in recent years. Especially in applications with long read ranges, high tag densities and fast throughput rates, UHF RFID offers significant advantages compared to traditional identification technologies.

The CHAINWAY UR1A is a stationary UHF RFID long range reader designed specifically for industrial environments. The device is based on the powerful Impinj E-Series platform and supports advanced Gen2X technology, enabling read speeds of more than 1,300 tags per second.

The reader fully supports the globally established EPC Class 1 Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C standard and is therefore compatible with a wide range of UHF RFID transponders. Thismakes the UR1A suitable for deployment in global supply chains as well as company-wide RFID infrastructures.

A key feature of the device is the integrated circularly polarized antenna, which is available with 6 dBi or 9 dBi antenna gain. Integrating the antenna significantly reduces installation effort, as no additional external antenna is required. At the same time, circular polarization ensures reliable tag detection regardless of tag orientation.

The CHAINWAY UR1A is specifically designed for use in industrial environments. The robust IP65 housing reliably protects the device against dust and moisture and allows operation in production halls, warehouse environments or semi-outdoor areas.

For integration into existing IT and automation infrastructures, the reader provides several interfaces including Ethernet, RS-232, and GPIO. Through these interfaces, the device can be connected to systems such as warehouse management systems (WMS), manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP systems. Additionally, support for PoE / PoE+enables simple installation by allowing power supply and data transmission via a single Ethernet cable.

Typical application areas for the UR1A include automated goods receiving and shipping processes, work-in-progress tracking in production, asset tracking, and document or media management.

As an experienced RFID hardware distributor, IDCRAFT GmbH supports companies in the planning, integration and operation of modern RFID infrastructures. In addition to providing suitable hardware, the company offers services such as feasibility studies, system design and integration into existing IT landscapes.
