RFID Tags from the 3D Printer

The IDCRAFT RFID 3D Tag was developed for applications where standard RFID tags reach their limits. When special designs, custom mountings, or small to medium production runs are required, the 3D-printed transponder offers a flexible alternative.

The RFID hard tag is available in UHF | RAIN RFID and HF | NFC. It is manufactured using the FDM 3D printing process. During this process, the RFID inlay is integrated into the housing and completely sealed. The result is a robust, ready-to-use RFID transponder for industrial applications.

A major advantage: Since no tools or molds are required, as is the case with injection molding, the RFID 3D tag is particularly suitable for prototypes, pilot projects, and small to medium-sized production runs.

The 3D tag supports:

  • UHF | RAIN RFID (860–960 MHz) for applications with longer read ranges, such as in logistics, asset tracking, container management, or on the assembly line

  • HF | NFC (13.56 MHz) for short-range applications such as access control, identification, or maintenance processes

By default, RFID chips from NXP, Alien, or other manufacturers suitable for the specific project are used.

The tag is available in both standard housings and custom designs. Depending on the application environment, materials such as PLA for indoor use and ABS for industrial and outdoor applications are available. On-metal and off-metal variants are also possible. Mounting options such as M5 threads or cable tie solutions can be directly integrated.

Additionally, every RFID 3D tag can be individually personalized—for example , with serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, or logos. Electronic encoding with EPC, UID, or application-specific data is also project-specific.

IDCRAFT offers complete implementation from a single source: from selecting the appropriate inlay through design, 3D printing, and testing to encoding. This results in customized RFID tags for industry, logistics, container tracking, asset tracking, and Industry 4.0.
