TURCK Named One of Germany’s Most Innovative SMEs
In a recent stern study, TURCK was named one of Germany’s 50 most innovative medium-sized companies. The automation specialist ranked 43rd overall and 3rd in the automation technology sector.
Assessment of Innovation Performance
The award is based on a cross-industry analysis of the innovation performance of medium-sized companies in Germany. The overall ranking considered 500 companies from 30 industries.
The study was conducted by the German Society for Consumer Studies on behalf of stern. Among other factors, the evaluation assessed research and development, new product innovations, and perceptions by industry experts and customers.
A central component of the analysis was patent performance. Both the number and the relevance of the patents were taken into account. Thus, the study evaluates not only the public perception of innovation but also the technological substance behind the developments.
TURCK ranks 3rd in automation technology
The TURCK Group ranked 43rd overall. Within the automation technology sector, the company achieved 3rd place.
For TURCK, this ranking confirms the company’s technological focus. The company offers a broad portfolio ranging from sensor technology to fieldbus and control technology, as well as IIoT and software solutions.
Its innovation performance is thus directly linked to core industrial requirements: collecting, preprocessing, and transmitting data from machines and systems, and making it usable for the optimization of industrial processes.
Significance for Industrial Digitalization
TURCK focuses its development efforts on areas such as decentralized automation, industrial AI, and edge- and cloud-based applications. These topics are relevant because industrial systems increasingly require more intelligence outside of central control levels.
For system integrators, this means that automation solutions must be conceived more as networked system architectures. Sensors, control technology, communication, software, and data processing are becoming more closely intertwined.
For solution providers, this results in scalable approaches for machines, plants, and industrial infrastructures. For end users, the benefits lie in more transparent processes, better data utilization, and the ability to expand automation incrementally.
Innovation from an Application Perspective
According to the company, the ranking confirms the strategy of consistently developing innovations from the customer’s perspective and translating them into scalable solutions. This approach is particularly relevant in automation technology, as new technologies cannot be evaluated in isolation.
The key factor is whether they can be integrated into existing production environments, machine concepts, and industrial communication structures. Innovation is therefore evident not only in new products but also in their practical applicability in everyday industrial settings.
The ranking in the stern study underscores the role of medium-sized technology companies in industrial transformation. They develop components, systems, and software modules that practically enable digitalization, decentralized automation, and data-driven process optimization.
