KABLAN Digitalizes Cable Drum Logistics Together with Truvami
Ostermundigen/Zurich, September 3, 2026. KABLAN AG, a Swiss provider of cable and connectivity solutions for energy, industrial, and infrastructure applications, is further expanding its digital logistics processes and, together with Truvami, Swisscom Broadcast’s business unit specializing in tracking solutions, is introducing a digital system for locating and tracking its cable drums.
The collaboration aims to make return processes more transparent, reduce the loss of cable drums, and make even more efficient use of existing resources.
Closing a Visibility Gap in Cable Drum Logistics
After delivery, cable drums often remain in use at customer sites for extended periods. Without up-to-date location data, it can be difficult for KABLAN AG to determine where individual drums are located. This results in additional coordination effort and increases the risk of delays or losses.
Truvami Tag XL trackers attached directly to the cable drums automatically detect movements and changes in location. This provides KABLAN with a continuously updated overview of where its cable drums are located, how long they have been in use, and when they are returned.
Sustainability is a high priority for KABLAN AG. Empty cable drums are therefore collected after use and reused for the delivery of new cables. The faster the drums are returned to this cycle, the fewer additional drums are required. The transparency provided by Truvami helps KABLAN use its existing cable drums more efficiently, promote their reuse, and conserve resources.
