Murata ID Solutions, an alliance partner of the RFID Lab at the University of Parma, has unveiled its newly inaugurated RFID Experience & Innovation Hub, an advanced and interactive facility dedicated to IoT and RFID demonstrations, testing, workshops, and research activities.

Exploring RFID through hands-on demonstrations

Located in Parma, Italy the Hub is designed to foster collaboration and discovery. Visitors can explore RFID demonstrations tailored to key sectors including fashion and apparel, automotive, logistics, and healthcare, with practical showcases of business use cases such as traceability, brand protection, Industry 4.0, and asset management.

The facility also includes dedicated testing areas and informal meeting spaces intended to encourage spontaneous interaction and inspiration.

Strengthening research, education, and technology transfer

Murata intends to make the Hub fully available to RFID Lab and the University of Parma’s academic community, enabling students and researchers to conduct impactful research on next-generation RFID solutions while engaging in practical, hands-on learning and didactic activities. The Hub is also designed to accelerate technology transfer by bridging academic discoveries with industrial implementation and offering companies an environment to experience RFID in action.

Francesco Fantoni Guerci, CEO of Murata ID Solutions, said: “This innovative and interactive space is a testament not only to the scientific and educational collaboration with the University of Parma but also to our commitment to supporting and stimulating innovation together with the industry, our customers and partners.”

Rector Paolo Martelli from the University of Parma highlighted the Hub’s importance for future research and education, noting that making the facility available to the academic community provides a significant opportunity for students and researchers to experiment and help define future IoT and RFID solutions, while reinforcing the practical application of academic knowledge through technology transfer.
