Empowering Next-Gen IoT Devices with Long-Range, Low-Power, and On-Device Intelligence

Methods2Business (M2B), a Dutch semiconductor innovator specializing in wireless communication and artificial intelligence, has officially introduced the world’s first Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow chip with integrated Edge AI. This milestone marks a significant advancement in the evolution of IoT hardware, enabling devices to combine kilometer-scale connectivity with on-device AI processing, all while maintaining ultra-low power consumption.

The solution addresses a long-standing challenge in the IoT space: how to create compact, energy-efficient devices that can communicate reliably over long distances and process data autonomously. With the integration of Wi-Fi HaLow (based on IEEE 802.11ah) and Edge AI into a single chip, M2B offers a new class of intelligent, scalable IoT platforms suitable for smart factories, smart agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, and healthcare.

A Leap Forward for Edge-Centric IoT

Unlike traditional Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi HaLow operates in the sub-1 GHz band, offering superior range, better penetration through walls and obstacles, and drastically lower power usage. Combined with embedded AI capabilities, the chip enables devices to analyze sensor data in real time—detecting anomalies, making predictions, or triggering actions without sending raw data to the cloud.

This architecture significantly reduces latency, bandwidth costs, and dependence on continuous internet connectivity, while also enhancing data privacy and responsiveness.

Designed for Harsh, Real-World Environments

Built for industrial-grade applications, the chip has been engineered to meet the demanding requirements of edge deployments:

  • Over 1 km communication range, even in complex RF environments

  • Integrated AI processing for applications such as anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, computer vision, and environmental monitoring

  • Support for thousands of connected devices per access point, making it ideal for dense sensor deployments

  • WPA3 security and AES encryption, aligned with the EU Cybersecurity Act and upcoming Data Act compliance

  • IP-native networking for seamless integration with existing IT systems and software stacks

Laying the Foundation for a Smarter, Greener IoT Future

This innovation reflects a growing shift toward edge-native architectures—designed to reduce environmental impact by minimizing data transmission and cloud infrastructure dependency. Wi-Fi HaLow with Edge AI is a sustainable path forward for IoT, especially in Europe where green technologies, energy efficiency, and digital sovereignty are top priorities.
