Identiv Launches Battery-Free BLE Labels for Physical AI Supply Chains
Identiv has introduced ID-Pixels 3.0, a family of battery-free BLE inlays and labels built on Wiliot’s Gen3 IC. The labels combine digital identity, sensing and energy harvesting to support continuous visibility across physical supply chains.
Battery-Free Labels for Connected Supply Chains
Identiv, Inc. has launched ID-Pixels 3.0, a new generation of Bluetooth Low Energy inlays and labels for IoT-enabled supply chain applications. The product family is based on Wiliot’s Gen3 IC and extends the collaboration between Identiv and Wiliot, which began in 2022.
The new labels are designed to make physical goods continuously identifiable and measurable. Instead of relying on battery-powered devices, ID-Pixels 3.0 harvests energy from ambient Bluetooth and UHF signals. This enables deployment at high volumes without the maintenance and cost limitations associated with batteries.
For supply chain operators, this is relevant because visibility increasingly depends on data from the product level, not only from pallets, cases or logistics systems. ID-Pixels 3.0 is intended to capture real-world condition and movement data directly from goods as they move through complex supply chains.
BLE, Sensing and Digital Identity in One Label
Each ID-Pixels 3.0 label combines Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, sensing functions and a unique digital ID. The self-adhesive label measures approximately 33 mm x 60 mm and is available as part of Identiv’s ID-Pixels product family, with label and inlay options for different deployment and integration models.
The label can capture data points such as location, temperature, humidity and light. This enables monitoring of the condition and movement of goods, including applications where product state is as important as product location.
Target sectors include retail, logistics, pharmaceuticals, food and smart packaging. These industries often require scalable, item-level visibility to improve inventory processes, shipment verification, product quality control and cold-chain transparency.
From Connected Items to Physical AI
Identiv positions ID-Pixels 3.0 as an enabling technology for Physical AI supply chain applications. In this context, Physical AI refers to systems that use continuous data from physical assets to support automated decisions and operational intelligence.
By integrating with the Wiliot Physical AI platform, the sensor data generated by ID-Pixels 3.0 can be translated into actionable insights. The source applications include automated inventory tracking, shipment verification, asset tracking and cold-chain monitoring.
The role of the label is to provide the data layer at item level. The platform layer then processes this continuous stream of real-world information and connects it with enterprise systems.
Gen3 IC as Technology Foundation
ID-Pixels 3.0 is built on Wiliot’s third-generation IC. Identiv states that the new generation brings improvements in performance, cost efficiency and sensing capabilities.
These advances are relevant for deployments that require many labels across broad physical environments. Higher-fidelity data capture and continuous data flow can support a more detailed understanding of how goods move, where they are located and under which conditions they are stored or transported.
For system integrators and solution providers, the combination of battery-free operation, BLE connectivity and integrated sensing creates new design options for applications that previously required active sensors or periodic manual checks.
Relevance for Enterprises and Integration Partners
For enterprises, ID-Pixels 3.0 addresses a core supply chain challenge: the gap between digital systems and the real-world state of physical goods. More continuous item-level data can support faster decisions, reduce uncertainty and improve transparency across operational processes.
For integrators, the relevance lies in deploying smart labels as part of broader IoT and supply chain architectures. Applications may include automated inventory systems, cold-chain monitoring, asset visibility and smart packaging workflows.
For end users, the value is practical: goods can be monitored more continuously, exceptions can be detected earlier and decisions can be based on data from the physical item itself.
