RFID Case Study: Enhancing wine logistics and ensuring traceability
Mosnel Enhances Wine Traceability and Distribution with RFID
Mosnel, a prestigious winery in Italy’s Franciacorta region, has been producing high-quality wines since 1836. Facing challenges in product traceability, unauthorized reselling, and compliance with new European regulations, Mosnel partnered with SAIT to implement Wineability, a custom software solution integrated with RFID and 1TRUEID QR codes.
RFID tags on each bottle are scanned during packing, shipping, and storage, providing real-time tracking and precise control over distribution channels. In the warehouse, Kathrein RRU 4500 readers and WRA 7070 antennas scan bottles through a tunnel system, ensuring accurate placement, reducing picking and shipping errors, and improving efficiency.
QR codes allow both Mosnel and customers to verify authenticity and trace each bottle from vineyard to consumer.
Results
100% distribution control: Full visibility of channels, reducing unauthorized reselling
30% more efficient warehouse operations: Faster, error-free picking and deliveries
Improved customer experience: QR codes provide traceability, product info, and Wine Club access
Regulatory compliance: Automated labeling meets European law requirements
By combining RFID with Wineability, Mosnel has strengthened brand protection, streamlined operations and enhanced customer engagement, securing its leadership in the wine industry.
