Balluff Opens Technology and Innovation Center in Chengdu
Strengthening Local Engineering Excellence and Innovation in China
Balluff, a specialist in sensors and automation, has opened a technology and innovation center at its production site in Chengdu, China. With this move, the company is setting another milestone in the expansion of its global innovation and engineering expertise. The goal is to provide even more targeted support to both local and international customers with high-performance solutions and market-oriented expertise.
Expanding engineering expertise close to customers
Since the Chengdu plant was founded in 2004, Balluff has expanded the facility in several phases.
The new technology and innovation center is located in the existing company building and comprises approximately 400 square meters of laboratory and office space. The focus is on the development of sensor technologies, including inductive sensors and position measurement systems, as well as connection technology and industrial networking.
By closely integrating engineering expertise, manufacturing know-how, and customer proximity, Balluff aims to shorten development cycles and provide solutions precisely tailored to the requirements of local markets.
“In close collaboration with our technology centers in Germany and Hungary, the Technology and Innovation Center in Chengdu enables us to support our customers even more effectively. Our goal is to be as close as possible to their needs and to offer them not only strong local sales and service, but also the technological expertise to jointly develop suitable solutions,” says Florian Hermle, Managing Director of Balluff.
Part of a global technology network
Worldwide, more than 500 employees in the Balluff technology team work on innovations, new products, and the further development of automation solutions.
With the establishment of the Technology and Innovation Center in Chengdu, Balluff is investing approximately 15 million euros over a five-year period to further expand its global engineering network. In the initial phase, around 25 developers will be working there; in the coming years, the team is expected to grow to more than 50 employees.
