Detailed product information
Edge platform for secure, real-time track and trace data
identCHAIN is Leuze’s edge-based platform for networking identification systems and sensors in production and the supply chain. Using OPC UA with full AutoID Companion Specification integration, it enables secure communication between 1D scanners and 2D camera systems directly at field level.
Instead of treating identification as just a code, identCHAIN maps each object to a virtual tag in the edge system. This virtual data carrier can be enriched with process, status and sensor information, creating a consistent, real-time data record for every object. The information is available across processes and can even be synchronized across network boundaries, enabling continuous track and trace at field level.
By handling identification data at the edge, identCHAIN reduces the need for constant queries to MES or ERP systems, lowering network traffic and freeing up higher-level IT resources. The concept combines the simplicity and cost advantages of barcode identification with RFID-like data structures, without requiring a change of media.
Multiple local AutoID and sensor networks can be synchronized via distributed edge servers. This ensures that identification events and their associated context data remain available throughout the production lifecycle and across supply chain stages. With optional API and cloud connectivity, identCHAIN also supports cross-site transparency and digital twin concepts.
