Morse Micro, an Australian semiconductor manufacturer and specialist in Wi-Fi HaLow, is expanding its partner network into Europe. Byte Lab, based in Zagreb, will be the first European design partner and will support IoT products from development through certification to manufacturing.

Wi-Fi HaLow Gains Its First Design Partner in Europe

Morse Micro, a Sydney-based fabless semiconductor manufacturer and developer of Wi-Fi HaLow chips, is adding Byte Lab to its international Design Partner Program. The engineering company, headquartered in Zagreb, is Morse Micro’s first European design partner.

This provides companies in Europe with a direct point of contact for the development and industrialization of Wi-Fi HaLow-based products. Byte Lab handles development, certification, and manufacturing and can support projects from the initial product concept through to production.

“We are very pleased to welcome Byte Lab as our first design partner in Europe,” says Michael De Nil, co-founder and CEO of Morse Micro. For European companies, this shortens the path from the initial product idea to a market-ready Wi-Fi HaLow product.

One-Stop Development and Manufacturing

Byte Lab was founded in 2011 and employs more than 150 people at locations in Croatia and Austria. The company develops electronic and connected products, combining hardware and software development with manufacturing and industrialization expertise.

This enables Byte Lab to support projects from the initial technical concept through validation and certification to pilot and series production. For customers, this significantly reduces the number of interfaces in the development process.

Wi-Fi HaLow for Industry and Infrastructure

Byte Lab sees particular potential for Wi-Fi HaLow in industrial and infrastructure applications.

“Our customers need wireless coverage across large industrial or infrastructure sites without having to set up a chain of repeaters,” explains Matija Puškar, co-founder and CEO of Byte Lab. Wi-Fi HaLow addresses precisely this requirement.

Wi-Fi HaLow is based on IEEE 802.11ah and operates in the sub-GHz band. The technology combines long range and energy-efficient communication with IP-based network connectivity. This makes it suitable for applications such as Industrial IoT, smart infrastructure, security technology, energy supply, agriculture, and edge AI.

Morse Micro is developing the Wi-Fi HaLow chips MM6108 and MM8108, among others, for this purpose.
