Amanosato Brewery connects Aru-Yoi sake with EM echo-V dual-frequency RFID
EM Microelectronic today announced that Amanosato Brewery (Japan) has integrated EM | echo-V (EM4425), a dual-frequency RFID chip (NFC + RAIN RFID), into its flagship craft sake “Aru-Yoi,” turning each bottle into a connected product experience that links brand protection, storytelling, and traceability.
By embedding a digital identity into the bottle/packaging, Amanosato aims to give consumers an intuitive way to engage with the product while supporting professional workflows across distribution and retail.
A connected bottle experience, designed for trust and engagement
The initiative enables consumers to:
Verify authenticity and check tamper/open status
Discover the brewer’s story and learn about local ingredients
Access pairing tips and exclusive content
Support Digital Product Passport (DPP)-style compliance for sustainability and traceability
The project is delivered together with Daiwa Computer Co., Ltd. and RFiD plus One, creating a digital ecosystem connecting makers and drinkers while preserving craft tradition through modern digital interaction.
One chip, two worlds: smartphone “tap” + supply-chain “scan”
EM | echo-V (EM4425) is designed to bridge consumer engagement and operations by combining:
NFC / HF for close-range smartphone interactions, and
RAIN RFID (UHF) for longer-range, rapid inventory and logistics processes.
Because the chip uses shared memory and a common IC serial number across protocols, the same product identity can support both consumer experiences and supply-chain traceability, without managing separate tags or IDs.
Background: why smart packaging is accelerating in premium beverages
Premium beverages increasingly rely on packaging not only for brand presentation, but also for brand protection, provenance, and direct-to-consumer storytelling.
At the same time, regulations and market expectations are pushing brands toward more structured product data sharing, an area where Digital Product Passport initiatives under the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) are often cited as a key driver.
Amanosato Brewery is part of a new wave of “craft sake” makers, combining Japanese brewing inspiration with modern approaches to product experience and communication—bringing consumers closer to the place, people, and ingredients behind the bottle.
