Checkpoint announced SFERO™ RFID Checkout, a world first RFID Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) antenna integrated directly into the checkout lane. The innovation expands the SFERO portfolio and extends RFID enabled protection to the point of sale, bringing deterrence and detection to the area where risk is often highest: the checkout.

Checkpoint will present SFERO™ RFID Checkout as a live preview and world premiere at EuroShop 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany at the Checkpoint booth, Hall 6, Stand E23, from 22 to 26 February 2026.

A security milestone built for modern grocery and CPG retail

RFID is evolving rapidly beyond traditional apparel use cases into more complex, high throughput environments. Designed primarily for grocery and CPG retailers, SFERO™ RFID Checkout extends store protection beyond exit based systems by enabling RFID EAS coverage at a new strategic point in the store.

Historically, EAS infrastructure focused on the store perimeter. With SFERO™ RFID Checkout, loss prevention can start earlier, supporting faster intervention and reducing losses before merchandise reaches the exit. Integrated into the lane, the solution supports precise identification of RFID tagged items in the event of a theft attempt, improving traceability and operational response.

Seamless integration, high performance, and connectivity

SFERO™ RFID Checkout is designed for clean, fast deployment without floor cutting or heavy installation work. Cabling is integrated into the checkout lane to simplify store reconfigurations and preserve a clear, uncluttered checkout area.

Powered by next generation electronics, the solution delivers high detection performance and extensive connectivity, enabling integration with other SFERO modules as well as third party solutions such as CCTV systems. Checkpoint also offers a wide range of ALPHA accessories compatible with SFERO™ RFID Checkout.

Beyond loss prevention, the embedded electronics can also function as an RFID POS reader, enabling retailers to combine theft prevention with faster transaction processing through a unified checkout approach. The solution is currently being tested with major food retailers.

A more complete modular RFID EAS platform

SFERO™ RFID Checkout strengthens the SFERO ecosystem alongside pedestals and overhead antennas designed for store perimeters. Combined as modular components, the portfolio supports customizable store protection from the checkout lane to the exit, including wide entrances.

“EuroShop is the stage for innovation, and we are proud to present a true world premiere there,” said Mariano Tudela, VP Sales MAS Worldwide at Checkpoint Systems. “With SFERO™ RFID Checkout, we introduce the first RFID EAS antenna integrated directly into the checkout lane, extending protection to the point where risk is highest: the till. This reflects our commitment to deliver intelligent, integrated, high performance RFID solutions that help retailers meet today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.”
