Overview

Brady’s RFID tool tracking solution helps industrial organisations maintain real-time visibility of high-value tools, reduce time spent searching for equipment and automate tool allocation to employees. The solution combines battery-free (passive) RFID labels, fixed and portable RFID readers, label printing and programming capabilities, and configurable RFID software with ERP integration.

Each tool receives a unique digital identity through a durable RFID label. Brady offers both on-metal and off-metal RFID labels, enabling reliable identification of steel tools, pneumatic equipment, cutters, specialised maintenance tools and other valuable assets. As the labels are battery-free, they require no maintenance and can be deployed across large tool inventories.

Automatic Tool Issue and Return

A fixed RFID reader at the tool storage area automatically detects RFID-labelled tools together with employee ID badges. The integrated software records which tools are assigned to which employee, removing manual booking procedures when equipment is issued or returned.

This creates a clear and up-to-date record of current tool ownership. Supervisors can immediately see which tools are available, missing, in use or allocated to a particular technician. Automated allocation reduces administrative effort while improving accountability across shifts, departments and maintenance teams.

Real-Time Tool Inventory

The solution provides real-time visibility of RFID-labelled tools in the storage area. Instead of manually checking tool cabinets, shelves or storage rooms, users can view inventory status in the software interface within a few clicks.

The system can identify missing tools, compare available assets with similar equipment and support data-driven purchasing decisions. This helps ensure that critical tools are available when needed and reduces delays caused by lost, misplaced or unrecorded equipment.

Locate Tools with a Portable RFID Reader

When a specific tool cannot be found, a portable RFID reader can be used to search for it within a radius of up to 15 metres. Users select the required tool on the reader screen and are guided towards it through visual and sound feedback.

This makes it easier to locate tools in large workshops, maintenance areas, storage rooms or industrial facilities without relying on manual searches or line-of-sight barcode scans.

Tool History, Maintenance and ERP Integration

Brady’s RFID software can display a tool’s usage history, maintenance reports, repair information and current allocation status. By scanning the RFID label, users can access relevant asset data directly at the point of use.

The software can also be integrated with ERP systems, allowing tool movements, usage data and maintenance information to become part of wider asset-management, maintenance and purchasing workflows. On-site RFID label printing and programming enable new tools to be identified and added to the system quickly.

Reliable Asset Visibility for Industrial Tool Operations

RFID Tool Tracking and Automated Tool Management supports industrial maintenance, manufacturing, energy, construction, field service and other environments where high-value tools must remain available, traceable and ready for use.

By combining fixed RFID identification, portable tool finding, durable labels and software-based asset management, Brady enables organisations to reduce administration, improve tool availability and gain a more reliable overview of their tool inventory.
