BLE Humidity and Temperature Sensor Beacon

The TELID®730 from microsensys is a compact, battery-powered Bluetooth Low Energy sensor beacon for wireless identification and the measurement of relative humidity and temperature. Designed for process and infrastructure monitoring, it combines a unique TELID® identification number with high-accuracy sensing and wireless data transmission in a sealed industrial housing.

Wireless Temperature and Humidity Monitoring

The TELID®730 uses Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. According to the datasheet, the communication distance is up to 10 meters, depending on the gateway and environmental conditions. The beacon can communicate with smartphones, the microsensys iID® INDUSTRY 0906 BLE Reader and iID® gateways.

The integrated sensor measures relative humidity from 0 to 100 %RH and temperature from -25 °C to +85 °C. The standard version provides typical accuracy of ±1.8 %RH and ±0.2 K, with resolutions of 0.01 %RH and 0.01 K respectively. A higher-accuracy variant is also listed in the datasheet.

This makes the TELID®730 suitable for applications where environmental conditions need to be monitored directly at an asset, machine or infrastructure object without installing additional sensor cabling.

Compact IP67 Sensor for Retrofit Applications

With a diameter of 30 mm and a thickness of only 12.5 mm, the TELID®730 can be integrated into compact monitoring applications. The sealed PPSU housing is rated IP67 and is designed for a working temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C. microsensys states that TELID®700 devices can be attached to both metal and non-metal surfaces and can even be used under water.

The sensor beacon is therefore particularly relevant for retrofitting existing infrastructure, technical equipment and other assets where wired measurement points would be difficult or costly to install.

Up to 10 Years of Battery Operation

The TELID®730 is powered by an integrated high-performance lithium primary cell. Depending on usage, microsensys specifies a battery lifetime of up to ten years. The battery is not replaceable because the housing is permanently sealed.

Measurement and broadcast intervals can be programmed between 10 seconds and six hours. microsensys notes that intervals below one minute can significantly reduce battery life. The device supports SLEEP and ACTIVE modes as well as MEASURE, BROADCAST and SLEEP functions via the TELID®7 beacon protocol.

Mobile Configuration and Encrypted Communication

Configuration is supported via TELID®7control for Android and iOS using NFC, while the TELID®7sensor application accesses sensor data via Bluetooth. Communication through the TELID®7 beacon protocol is driverless and encrypted, with AES-128 encryption listed as a security feature.

The TELID®730 can therefore serve as an individual mobile-readable sensor or as part of a larger automated monitoring architecture using BLE gateways and industrial readers.
