Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “Murata”) sponsored the NFC Photobook Project (hereafter, “the Project”) by fashion designer Yuima Nakazato at Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 (hereafter, “the Event”), which was held in Paris, France, from Monday, July 6, to Thursday, July 9, 2026.

The Project is a new initiative that seamlessly links the photobook, which features photos taken by Nakazato during a visit to the Canary Islands to gain inspiration for his work, with footage from the fashion show. This is achieved by embedding RFID tags in the photobook. As part of the sponsorship, Murata provided the RFID tags embedded in the limited-edition photobook that was handed out to visitors at the Event.

NFC is a type of RFID technology that enables the contactless reading and transmission of information by simply holding a smartphone or other device over a tag.

The limited-edition photobook given to visitors at the Event is embedded with RFID tags provided by Murata. By holding their smartphone over the photobook, visitors can access the Event’s special website and seamlessly enjoy the show’s creative vision and related content even after the Event has ended.

Instead of displaying a 2D barcode on the page for scanning, the Project features RFID tags embedded in the photobook as a gateway to digital content, thereby preserving the aesthetic of the photobook itself. Through this initiative, Murata is helping to create experiences that naturally connect users’ real-world experiences with digital content while preserving design integrity.

Yuima Nakazato, whom Murata sponsored for the Event, is exploring new possibilities for materials and technologies through the use of cutting-edge technology in the fashion industry and partnerships with companies that possess such technologies. We believe that his approach is highly compatible with our efforts to utilize the knowledge of electronic components and communication technologies that we have cultivated to support the creation of new experiential value in various industries.

RFID technology is increasingly being used as a means of connecting physical objects and information in a wide range of fields, including manufacturing, logistics, and retail. Our RFID tags have also been used in the fashion industry to improve traceability in logistics, authenticate products, and manage distribution channels outside official channels.

We will continue our efforts to create new value through collaboration with our partners, utilizing the knowledge and unique technologies we have cultivated during our many years of developing electronic components and communication technologies. We will also continue to unlock new possibilities to meet the needs of society and contribute to enhancing experiential value across a wide range of fields.
