Compact UHF RFID Tags for Demanding Applications
The HID FIT Ceramic Tag family consists of miniature passive UHF RFID transponders designed for applications where installation space is limited but reliable identification remains essential.
The ceramic construction provides a compact, durable housing that can be discreetly embedded into an asset or attached using industrial adhesive or epoxy. The tags are particularly suited to metallic tools, machinery components, production equipment and surgical instruments. Their rugged housings protect the RFID inlay from physical stress, industrial environments and repeated sterilization processes.
Despite their small dimensions, the FIT Ceramic Tags provide read ranges of up to 10 meters on metal. The different formats allow users to balance tag size, installation space and required reading distance for each application.
Five Formats for Different Identification Requirements
The HID FIT Ceramic Tag family includes five variants designed for different asset geometries, mounting conditions and read-range requirements:
Micro 100: Measuring just 7 × 2 × 2.3 mm, the Micro 100 is designed for long, narrow metallic objects and installations with extremely limited space. It offers a read range of up to 1.6 meters, making it suitable for very small tools and components.
220HT: With dimensions of 7.8 × 6.8 × 2.7 mm, the 220HT combines a compact footprint with a read range of up to 2.2 meters. It is suited to small metallic tools, instruments and industrial components.
400HT: The 13.1 × 7.8 × 3.1 mm 400HT delivers read ranges of up to 4 meters. It is designed for industrial tools, equipment and production assets that require a balance between compact size and reliable read performance.
1000HT: Measuring 15.3 × 15.3 × 5.6 mm, the 1000HT provides the longest read range in the family, reaching up to 10 meters on metallic assets. It is intended for applications where extended reading distance is a priority.
400P: The 400P measures 17.6 × 7.1 × 4.1 mm and offers a read range of up to 4.1 meters. Unlike the other variants, it is designed for plastic and other non-metallic surfaces.
The Micro 100 provides the smallest and narrowest form factor, while the 1000HT delivers the highest read performance on metal. The 400P extends the FIT Ceramic family to applications involving non-metallic assets.
Built for Industrial and Medical Environments
HID FIT Ceramic Tags support asset identification in environments where conventional RFID labels may not provide sufficient durability. Typical applications include:
Tool inventory and tool management
Tracking of small machinery and production components
Automotive manufacturing, painting, welding and molding processes
Cable and equipment identification
Surgical instrument tracking
Monitoring the status and utilization of medical equipment
Identification of assets exposed to repeated cleaning or sterilization
The tags are dust-tight and waterproof according to IP68, tested at a depth of one meter for 24 hours. They are also resistant to shock and vibration according to MIL-STD-810G and withstand exposure to salt water, oils, chemicals and dilute caustic soda.
Selected models can withstand peak temperatures of up to 225 °C, making them suitable for demanding production processes and high-temperature cycling applications.
Flexible Mounting and Customization
FIT Ceramic Tags can be embedded during production or attached using industrial adhesive or epoxy glob top. Sticker-backed versions for temperatures up to 85 °C are also available.
Depending on the project requirements, HID offers additional options including:
RFID chip encoding
Customized labels and markings
ATEX and IECEx variants
Class I Division 1 options
EU ETSI and US FCC frequency versions
The tags comply with EPC Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000-6C standards, enabling integration into established UHF RFID infrastructures.
